Die Deutsche Schule Spartanburg began classes on September 7, 1996. The Carolinas are proud of their successful and growing business and cultural relationship with German speaking countries. Die Deutsche Schule Spartanburg (DDSS) hopes to further strengthen this bond.

DDSS is a non-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors who are volunteers. The Board of Directors appoints a Curriculum Coordinator who is responsible to ensure that the policies of the board and the academic goals of DDSS are achieved in the classroom.
Teachers
The curriculum coordinator, in close cooperation with the board, is responsible for the academic program. The faculty consists of experienced, certified teachers of German.
Tests
National Tests: AATG (American Association of Teachers of German) 1, 2, 3, 4
International Tests: German Language Certificate A2, B1, C1

These tests are developed and conducted by the Central Agency for Schools abroad of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs in Germany.
